Pulling too hard on the chain is another bad practise. If the chain is pulled too hard, it could entirely rip out of the hoist or come off the sprocket. The chain links may therefore spread or stretch if you pull too firmly. Simply put, let go of your hold.

Two blocking

Another very popular practise is two-blocking, which involves hoisting the chain block into the main portion of the hoist. If you continue the process while the bottom block is in contact with the hoist’s primary component, the hoist may dent or suffer internal damage. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to hand chain hoists.

Of the two options, hoist mounted control panels are more common. Since only a 4 core cable and a shrouded bus bar are needed to power the hoist control panel, the cost is significantly reduced in this kind of installation.  Due to the high cost of wall-mounted control panels, all power and control cables must be run from the control to the hoist, increasing the overall cost of the DSL by both cables and DSL trolley size.

As the number of cores increases and there are only 4 cores/lengths in a shrouded bus bar, it cannot be used in this situation.

The DSL is typically positioned on the same beam as the hoist when a wall-mounted style control panel is employed.

NTPC typically chooses this style of installation for its control panels.

Pros and cons of wall mounted type Control Panel 

The benefit of wall-mounted control panels is that they are easier to maintain because any problems may be fixed while standing at floor level; this eliminates the requirement to ascend to the hoist for panel maintenance. This form of setup is chosen since it ensures that the panel won’t be subjected to harsh circumstances in dusty or hot environments. 

On the other hand, these are expensive compared to the other choices. Also, the number of cables increases which make the travel of DSL clumsy. 

How to care

The cable length should be 1.25x travel length + height from monorail beam till operating floor level.

It is important to take caution when estimating costs to just include the cost of the cables up to the working floor level and not the complete lift of the hoist.
